1890’s Bathroom Reno

Let’s just take a moment to soak up the color in this bathroom. Now, imagine the walls with a floral wallpaper in bright yellows, pinks and oranges. You should have seen it! I am so bummed we didn’t get a good before picture with the wallpaper up. If I could sum up the room in two words, I would call it rainbow sorbet. It had a very happy feeling to it, but it needed to be toned down to fit the genre of the house. The house was built in 1890 in an old neighborhood west of St. Paul, MN. It is a solid house with Victorian elements throughout.

There are two bathrooms in this house (see the other bathroom here), neither of which had a shower…I can’t even imagine not having a shower in my house! With that being said, it was crucial we incorporated a free standing shower with the original clawfoot tub. I don’t know if you can see it, but the tub was ALSO painted pink. That had to go, so we painted it black and gave the legs a brass detail. Other than that, the tub was in great condition and didn’t take much to clean up. I found this beautiful floral wallpaper that had brass accents in it to tie in with the other brass fixtures throughout the room.

We were thrilled how it all came together. Check out the main level bathroom here. Do you have an old clawfoot tub that you revamped or restored? I’d like to hear about it!
